What is Chinese Moxibustion?

Chinese moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves burning dried mugwort (moxa) on specific acupuncture points on the body. The heat generated from the burning moxa helps to stimulate these points, promoting the smooth flow of Qi (vital energy) in the body and restoring balance.

Exploring the Depths of Moxibustion

Moxibustion goes beyond just physical healing—it’s known for its ability to harmonize emotional well-being as well. In today’s fast-paced world, the calming effect of Moxibustion on the mind and spirit is particularly valuable. This therapy not only addresses symptoms but also gets to the root causes of ailments, whether they are physical or emotional.

Understanding the Science of Moxibustion

Modern research has started to unveil the scientific mechanisms behind Moxibustion’s effectiveness. Studies indicate that the heat generated from Moxa can penetrate deeply into muscles and tissues, stimulating blood flow and triggering a healing response. This process aids in detoxifying the body and boosting the immune system.

The Importance of Artemisia Vulgaris in Moxibustion

Artemisia Vulgaris, or Mugwort, is a crucial element in Moxibustion. This herb is selected for its unique properties, including promoting circulation, warming the body, and ensuring the smooth flow of Qi and blood. In Moxibustion, its therapeutic benefits are maximized, offering a natural and effective remedy for a variety of ailments.

FAQ

Moxibustion FAQ

Are there any side effects of Moxibustion?

Moxibustion is generally safe when performed by a qualified practitioner. Some clients may experience temporary redness or a mild burning sensation during the treatment, which usually subsides quickly or within a few hours. However, patients with fluid retention, thin, damp, or wet skin are at a higher risk of developing blisters, even if the procedures are performed correctly.  Additionally, patients with skin sensitivity, non-sensitivity, fluid retention, damp or wet skin, thin skin, extreme 'cold' conditions, or those who are underweight should be extra caution, as they may not feel the heat adequately. It is important to avoid burns and blisters. Constant feedback with the clinic staff during treatment is essential. Please keep in mind even when skillfully performed, blisters and minor to severe burns may still occur to some patients.

How quickly can I see results from Moxibustion?

The response to Moxibustion varies from person to person. Some may feel immediate relief, while others may notice improvements over a series of sessions.
